Janina has worked in the film and television industry for over ten years. As a little girl she dreamed of becoming an actress, but that soon changed when she took a video production class in high school where she was first introduced to the art of editing and discovered her love for being behind the camera. She received a BA in Directing at Columbia College Chicago in 2009 and promptly relocated to Los Angeles.

Once there, she dabbled in various production roles, serving as a Producer’s Assistant for the late Martha De Laurentiis on season three of the NBC series Hannibal, producing and directing a variety of commercials for brands such as Tampax, Clinique, Abbott etc, and stage producing for the American Film Market.

After cutting the spoken word short film Untamed Tongue in 2017, she started pursuing her passion of narrative editing full time. Since then she has cut various pieces for her fellow Columbia alumni and friend, director Michael B. Chait, and recently completed editing the World War II action-thriller feature film Wolf Hound. The film was acquired by Lionsgate’s Grindstone Entertainment Group and received a limited theatrical release in June 2022.

Janina was born in Bavaria, Germany and moved to the United States when she was eight years old. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Wes, and their dog, Buffy.

Janina is a proud member of the MPEG Local 700.
